Job Description
Ameriinfovets Inc. seeks a Database Administrator to own day-to-day database operations and reliability. This role monitors production databases, defines operational procedures, coordinates maintenance with system administrators, and leads performance analysis and tuning. You’ll plan and execute software installs and upgrades, manage backup and recovery with documented procedures, and maintain secure user access in partnership with systems administrators.
The position includes advanced Oracle responsibilities: building and supporting 11gR2 and 12c RAC clusters using ASM, upgrading GRID infrastructure from 11g to 12c, configuring Active Data Guard and SLAs for standby query access, installing Oracle RDBMS on new cluster nodes, creating ASM volumes via ASMCA and ACFS for GoldenGate 12c, and partitioning disks from Exadata Storage. Telecommuting is permitted.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain production databases; define SOPs for daily operations.
- Coordinate routine and periodic maintenance with system administrators.
- Perform performance analysis and tuning; track growth rates and plan capacity.
- Install and upgrade database software; test and evaluate new versions/features.
- Implement robust backup/recovery and author recovery runbooks.
- Maintain user access and roles with proper least-privilege controls.
- Define and enforce database management standards.
- Develop and execute database changes via scripts.
- Build/support Oracle 11gR2 & 12c RAC using ASM; upgrade GRID 11g→12c.
- Install Oracle RDBMS on new cluster nodes; create ASM volumes (ASMCA/ACFS) for GoldenGate 12c.
- Configure SLAs for queries on standby; manage Active Data Guard.
- Partition disks from Exadata Storage.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, and GRID infrastructure (11g/12c).
- Proficiency in performance tuning, capacity planning, and growth tracking.
- Strong background in backup/recovery strategy and implementation.
- Experience with Active Data Guard, GoldenGate 12c, and ACFS/ASMCA.
- Scripting for database changes and automation.
- Collaboration with system administrators on maintenance and access control.
